Surprise, surprise, surprise

Well, not extremely surprising news this morning that Bush has helped his ol’ pal ‘Scooter’ Libby out of hot water by commuting his 30-month sentence for perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators. God forbid he see the inside of a prison and serve time like any other citizen would have to do. I have to say, though, that at least Bush didn’t pardon him. At least Libby will still have the conviction and will still have to pay the $250,000 fine. It’s good to know that Bush’s advisors aren’t complete cronies but it still smacks of utter nepotism and quasi-nihilism that Libby has gotten out of this sentence.

Well, guess you called that wrong about the advisors judgement didn’t you. He’s now hinting at wiping out the whole thing which doesn’t surprise me in the least. I thought you were a little premature in making your statement!!! Mom

To which I say, eh, call it UK-US time difference. It was very early US time this morning when I posted this. Leah
