Further news today on Chavez and his seemingly unending bid to become Venezuelan dictator. He has now announced that he wishes to abolish the term limits on his Presidency thereby ensuring he remains leader until he dies like Fidel Castro. Thankfully, this plan would have to be approved by Parliament and by a referendum of the people of Venezuela. One can only hope that there are more critics such as my new Venezuelan reader who can galvanise support to ensure this plan does not pass go, does not collect $200.
Latin America has seemingly always had somewhat of a penchant for dictators. I thought those days had passed but it appears they may be coming back in. Fingers crossed that dictator-general Chavez’s plans do not come to fruition.
