Goodbye Yellow-Brick ‘Rove’

Well, Karl Rove is officially gone from the White House. Good riddance I say. On the other hand it feels incredibly bittersweet and anticlimactic. While I am, of course, glad to see the evil mastermind behind Bush’s electoral successes (and, some have said, his ‘brain’) gone, it’s of his own accord. He wasn’t ousted by any of the scandals in which he has clearly been involved (Valerie Plame, for one). He didn’t go down in magnificent flames. He just left the building.

The only thing I can really take solace in is the number of commentators decrying his horrible legacy. Guardian Comment is Free writer Michael Tomasky summed it up well

Karl Rove will be remembered for two things from his time at the White House: incompetence and duplicity.

Well, he is gone. This much is true. We can all rejoice moderately at this event as, if nothing else, he is good and gone.
