And the winner is…no one

Well, we all knew that Super Tuesday probably wasn’t going to decide anything on the Democratic side. It has also only put McCain in front-runner position; it’s still not entirely sewn up there either. How exciting!

I am about to make a prediction. It’s the first one I’ve made publicly during this election campaign and it may well be the last if it’s way off. Ok, so maybe let’s call it an idea or a possibility rather than a prediction. Yes, I like that better. It’s more of a possibility rather than a prediction anyway.

I say it’s a possibility that Mike Huckabee will be John McCain’s Vice-Presidential running mate if he indeed wins the nomination. Huckabee is popular with southerners and conservatives, the latter being something McCain will need come November as he is rather unpopular with this demographic. Moreover, they say that you must have a southern running mate if you are not from the south yourself in order to win the southern states and winning the southern states is often key to winning the White House. So, my prediction is that if McCain gets the Republican nomination there is a good chance he will pick Huckabee to be his VP.

I must say, though, that I hope my prediction doesn’t come true. I personally don’t want Mike Huckabee any nearer to the White House than your average tourist.
