The endorsement that really matters

News today that rapper 50 Cent has switched sides from Clinton to Obama. The wordsmith’s oh-so-eloquent reasoning for this:

“I heard Obama speak,” he said. “He hit me with that he-just-got-done-watching-’Malcolm X,’ and I swear to God, I’m like, ‘Yo, Obama! I’m Obama to the end now, baby!” [referring to Obama's recent speech on racism]

Now, that’s an endorsement that counts. A rapper associated with all that is wrong with the African-American community and the rap scene: drugs, weapons, ‘bitches’ and ‘hos’, and the ever-popular N-word. If I were Obama, even Clinton previously, I wouldn’t acknowledge this endorsement any further than a simple ‘thank you for your support.’ The only reason for this acknowledgement? It will bring out young voters. But then again Obama has proven he doesn’t really need help to do that, now hasn’t he?
