Why is it?

When you go to pack for a trip you cannot ever get out of your head that you’ve forgotten something? I’m off to Arkansas on Saturday for ten days to visit family and friends and eat my weight in Mexican food. I am super-excited. Just thought I’d share that with you.

Turning death into an advantage

News today that an advisor to John McCain said that another terrorist attack on America would be advantageous to his campaign. This proves two things:

John McCain is surrounded by neocons just as Bush was;
Neoconservatives want war, terrorism and the fear that comes from it because it allows them to pander to this instinct in the American [...]

Sad day for democracy

I won’t pretend to know enough about Zimbabwe to make any kind of lucid, interesting argument. Suffice to say I am very saddened to hear that opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has dropped out of the presidential run-off. I would have liked to have seen him fight against Robert Mugabe-a man who makes Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez [...]

Think McCain, think bad thoughts

I found this video hysterical but don’t entirely agree with the gratuitous use of the c-word, despite the fact that McCain said it and it’s just reporting that. Hence, I found this edited version. You can obviously still tell what they’re bleeping out but, hey, it’s not blatantly out there. Enjoy.

Why you should vote Democrat

Change, part 2

Following on from my previous post I bring you a commercial from MoveOn.org. Yes, it’s John Cusack, and yes, I’m sick of celebrities stumping up for candidates but it has a good message nonetheless. Hence, for your watching pleasure:

And the Bush-McCain Challenge

New website added

I came across this website today Fight the Smears. It has been set up by Barack Obama’s campaign to counter all of the lies in the media, blogosphere and email campaigns that he is a Muslim and that he won’t say the pledge of allegiance, among many others. I’ve added it to my list of [...]

Men on bikes are gross

So I bought a new running top the other day. It’s a fancy, snazzy thing with the supportive bra built in. You can see it here. Now, it seems since I’ve started wearing this top I am getting some very leering, creepy looks from men on bicycles as I run by them. One Mr Yellow-vested [...]

“Will the real John McCain stand up”

A very insightful, interesting, if rather long article in the Guardian today about John McCain. As with Rudolph Giuliani McCain’s public persona and previous legislative record are nothing like what he is claiming on the stump. For those who do not have the time to read the article, some fine examples include
The candidate whom the [...]

Change

John McCain is peddling his candidacy as change; so is Obama. I don’t think McCain can truly offer a change for one glaringly obvious reason: he’s a Republican. Granted I trust him a hell of a lot more than I do the current Republican president but, at the same time, you cannot truly have a [...]
