When I worked on Howard Dean’s 2004 campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination I think, deep down, I knew he didn’t really have a chance in hell. When I joined the Obama campaign online several months ago I had some inklings of the same feeling. I really liked Obama, despised Clinton and really hoped that he could make a good showing of it and the nomination wouldn’t be handed to Clinton on a plate. Wow, how things have changed.
I am certainly very happy to hear Obama has declared himself the presumptive nominee. I am certainly not very happy to hear Clinton has refused to concede defeat. As per a previous post, she continues to look like a stubborn jackass who refuses to move. Hillary, hon, you’ve lost; it’s over. Go home and get some rest. With any luck, if you go ahead and concede soon, you can have a shot at the VP position – though I hope not. I don’t think she should be offered the VP position as a conciliatory gesture. I don’t have an opinion on who should be the VP but I don’t necessarily think it should automatically be Clinton.
So, after six long months it appears the contest is over. Unfortunately, though, until Clinton concedes it’s not technically over. I won’t make the obvious cliche about the fat woman singing for fear of it being construed as sexist or calling Clinton fat. Suffice to say I hope she does concede (sing) soon.
