My husband and I are trying to do more outings together around Britain. Instead of spending Saturdays moping about asking the same question over and over (what do you want to do; I don’t know, what do you want to do…) we’re going to go and do things. We even bought several books such as 1000 Things To Do in London and the AA’s Days Out Guide. I’m supposed to be looking into where we should go this weekend. One of the first questions is ‘what will the weather be like’. Once we know this it narrows down where we can go. You wouldn’t want to go see a beautiful park in a downpour. So, I go to the Met Office’s weather site. They are supposed to be the UK experts on weather. You trust what they say. This is the outlook for Friday and Saturday:
Rather cloudy at times through the period with some showers or longer spells of rain. There will be some brighter spells as well.
Could they BE any more vague? So, there’s a chance of cloud and possibly rain; but, wait there’s also bright weather too. Which is it?! I’ve consulted both BBC weather and the Weather Channel UK and they contradict each other also. BBC says rain on Saturday while Weather Channel says sunny with only 20% chance of rain. Ok, I know weather forecasting has always been 50/50 and it’s not an exact science but when I saw the Met Office’s ‘prediction’ (more like stab in the dark) with forecast for both cloud and rain and sunny weather I just threw my hands up in exasperation. I think an indoor activity is on the cards just in case one of those rainy clouds comes along and brightens the day.
