Many of you know I have taken up running in the last year. I’ve only recently gotten any good at it. I can now run for a full 30 minutes which, for me, is equal to about three miles or five kilometres. So tomorrow I will run in my first official 5k race. It’s a very low-key fun run held each Saturday on Wimbledon Common. I will be given my finishing place and official time but I won’t really be competing with anyone but myself. I’m ever so slightly scared as I have never done anything like this before, but I figured why not? I’m fitter now than ever and I can run the five kilometres so why not drag my ass out of bed at 7.00am on a Saturday morning to go race in the fairly cool autumn temperatures at 9.00am in the middle of the woods? Anyway, my dear husband is also dragging his ass out of bed tomorrow morning to come support me. He’ll be taking a couple of photos and I’ll post them soon after. My treat for finishing (besides the great sense of achievement) is going to Krispy Kreme for their Chocolate Carnival. That alone is worth getting out of bed for, and I will have just run five kilometres so I can afford a little indulgence. Wish me luck!
